The Kerryman was taken on by the O’Connor family in 1996. Originally called ‘The Roscommon Bar’ when Liam O’Connor took over he changed the name to give a nod to his home-town on the border of Limerick and Kerry.

The O’Connor family had always run pubs as a family, and the Kerryman was to be no different. After a re-name and an extensive refurb, the Kerryman earned a reputation as a hub for the Irish community, hosting the Monday Irish Club for many years, and hosting live Irish traditional music.

As times have changed, so too has The Kerryman. 10 years ago the O’Connor’s converted the upstairs of the pub to a B&B, which has been a huge success, and also extended the downstairs of the pub further into the rear smoking area to increase capacity. The Kerryman was also the first pub in Digbeth to introduce 24 hours licensing; first closing at 11 pm then slowly moving to 4 am!

The O’Connor family have proudly built and developed the pub as a family, and Rachel O’Connor, daughter to Liam O’Connor, is the current owner and manager. We have a party atmosphere with a DJ every Friday and Saturday, and every second Sunday we hold a live open-mic event from 5 pm.
